Master Cleanse Diet - Lemonade Diet Secrets

The Saltwater Flush & Its Purpose in the Lemonade Diet

Written on February 8, 2008 – 8:27 pm | by Lauren |

The Saltwater flush is another element of the Master Cleanse intended to help your body with waste removal. Removing waste is the essential element to detoxifying your body. The Saltwater Flush functions as a top-down enema and works through your digestive system particularly quickly, taking only about 30-60 minutes to move all the way through your body.

You should drink it upon waking each morning, and be prepared to spend awhile in the bathroom within an hour of taking it. Drink this mixture slowly but steadily – too much salt at once could upset your stomach, but sipping the drink infrequently will not work as well for waste removal. NOTE: This process can be omitted if you feel nauseous when using the Saltwater Flush. It is not intended to be digested and using the diet optimally, your body will not digest it; however, we all have different chemistries and reaction times, so your body may digest it and you may vomit or absorb the salt. If this is a concern or it makes you feel sick, please discontinue its use. PLEASE DO NOT USE MORE SALT THAN INDICATED IN THE RECIPE. Ingesting too much salt at once can have serious and sometimes fatal consequences.

I am concerned about potential negative effects of the saltwater flush. If I decide to omit this, will the cleanse still be effective? If so, should I continue to drink the laxative tea only at night? I am also concerned that drinking more than one glass of laxative tea a day is equally harmful to my system. Suggestions?

    i agree with you rachel~
i wanted to know the same thing. i tried the salt water flush and was extremely ill for most of the morning. i heard that taking a laxative tea will make your body become dependant and cause constipation and your body will not be able to eliminate unless the tea is taken. what to do????

i can’t take swf either, i tried it once during my mc, i vomit a lot and felt so sick. the next day i tried plum juice instead of salt water. it does flushed out all the unwanted ‘thing” inside the intestine. maybe it will work with you.

Hi I am on my forth cleanse. I am 45 and I love the results, you just have to make it thru day 2 & 3. I have read every article ever written on this diet and you have to flush with salt water for the best result. The trick I do is mix a 1/2 quart of salt water (2 teaspoons) and 1/2 quart unsalted water. Then drink as much of the SW as possible & wash it down with the unsalted. Way easier.

I love doing these (after day 3) and my last one I did 14 days, but sooner or later I have to start eating because of business trips, meetings, Christmas etc so plan carefully and it gets easier once you get over the hump :)

Email me if you have any Q’s hwhyra@telus.net

    Just to clarify above:
Hi well maybe I did not make myself clear. I love the master cleanse after the third day. I did not mean I start doing the SW after 3 days. I start that on day 1, and that is how I start the MC on the first day. I do the SW every day. Day 2 & 3 are hard to get thru on the MC .This is my forth time and I am on day 11 right now & feel like I want to go for 20 more but because of work dinners & meetings etc I can not.

From everything I have read and my experience is you must follow the rules. SW every day and cayenne pepper in the lemonade drink even thou it tastes crappy. I imagine I am eating chicken wings  Like the salt water flush if you can’t stomach the taste of the lemonade drink what I sometimes do is squeeze half my lemon into my drink with maple syrup & cayenne and squeeze the other half lemon into filtered water and take a sip of water after the mixture.

You think you can’t do 14 days but after 10 you have so much energy & feel so great you will want to go forever.

    Anything else let me know…………..

Hi this is my first time starting the lemonade diet. And my question to all is how much water and salt are you suppose to mix and are you suppose to drink it every morning.

    Hi,

I’m also a 45 year old guy. I’m on day 5 of my 3rd cleanse. I did 10 days the first time, 21 the second and now I’m going for 32 (I can break the cleanse and be ready for a business trip if I stop then). I agree with Cleanse Guy, you really have to follow the diet and it’s only the first couple of days that are the toughest.

I have to say, Cleanse Guy is a better man than I if he can imagine he’s eating chicken wings. I just call it “piss water” - for looks of it and its consequences.

You’ll enjoy the results if you give it the 10 day minimum.

As for the swf recipe, Cleanse Guy had it on his post - 1 qt warm water and two tsps. of uniodized salt. Yum!

    Good luck!

I tried the saltwater flush yesterday as well as today, and it’s not working for me? I just feel really full. Should I add more salt?

i have repeatedly tried to do the swf this morning and failed miserably. I think the fact that i dont eat much salt in my food may have something to do with it….it comes back out as soon as it goes in (i vomit ),….any suggestions? I also tried the imagine its chicken soup/ wings and no joy
